This is our new Royall Wood Pellet Grill, the 3000, and it can put out some smoke

Patti and I have enjoyed cooking on Traeger Wood Pellet grills for a year now. They are fine machines and we still have two of them on our patio. Until recently I believed there were none better. Then we had the opportunity to try out the Royall 3000 Wood Pellet Grill.

There is a difference. The Royall puts out a deeper, richer smoke that you can actually see in the smoke ring and taste in the food. This week we are giving our Royall 3000 a real work out to see if it lives up to its name. And it sure does!! One of the things I have learned in my years of BBQ is that there are times when no matter how big your grill is, it is not big enough.

Smoked Clod Roast injected with Country Bob's and Cranberry Juice

We saw a clod roast on sale this week. Never having done one, we wanted to give it a try. It is a lean cut of meat a little on the tough side. Low and slow is the way to go here. We did a garlic pepper crust and injected it with a 50/50 mix of Country Bob’s Sauce and cranberry juice. It smoked for 8 hours at 275 degrees. It came out sweet and tender and we used the leftovers in our garlic soup, thinking this would be a great week for soup because of the storms.

Smoked Cranberry Stuffed Pork Chops

These were something special Patti dreamed. Literally she had a dream about these. These chops are almost 4 inches thick and sweet and tender on their own. Then, Patti made a cranberry stuffing and a zesty cranberry sauce.

All I can say is “OH MY”, these were so good that you could serve them for any special occasion and everyone will sing praises. I am looking forward to my next special occasion: another Date Night with Patti.
